Does anyone know if the new Lectrosonics SR dual channel receiver fits in the slot? Are two channels accessible through the slot?

How does the Lectrosonic SR compare to the Sony WRR-855 in terms of performance?

Yes - but there is a level of getting into the menus involved. The switch selection just gives the option of "WRR", but doesn't specify which channel - you have to select which channel via menu, then switch to WRR.
I can't directly answer that question, but the WRR-855 is an analogue system, and to anybody buying fresh now it seems extremely worthwhile going for the digital system - Sony : Sony Digital Wireless Microphone System : United Kingdom .

It also seems sensible that if you have a Sony camera, there's less chance of incompatibilities (ie manufacturers blaming each other) if you get a Sony radio mic. Any problems, and it's up to Sony.

Whatever you do, bear in mind that there will soon be a big reallocation of spectrum and many radiomics may soon be rendered obsolete and not able to be used. Details will vary from country to country.

I suppose the dual channel wireless slot on the PMW-350 works the same way than the PDW-700 and PDW-F800 cameras. You can either use a single channel analog wireless receiver (Sony, Audio Limited, Lectro SR, ...) or a DWT two channel digital wireless manufactured by Sony. In the case of the Lectro SR, only one channel will be routed through the camera's slot-in connector, the second channel will have to be fed to one the camera's audio input on the back using Lectrosonic's optional module, not ideal. Take a look at the DWT system, it is really slick and integrates in the camera very well. Some of the wireless transmitters functions such as the amount of lowcut filtering, attenuation level can be controlled straight from the PMW-350 menu audio page.
