LCD screen not turning on??
I turned on my EX1R and the LCD screen wouldnt turn on but the VF was on I then put it on media and the LCD worked.
a few minutes later I turned it on again and now the LCD will not work on either Camera mode or Media mode. Any suggestions? |
Something like this happens to me when I accidentally turn the LCD backlight switch from ON to OFF (top of the camera on EX1). It's an easy accident based on the position of the switch under the handle where your hand grips the camera.

I see posts like this every few months - I guess it's one of those EX1 / EX1r gotchas that catches everybody out at least once! At least it's a simple and free solution! (assuming this is the solution for you).

it happens to me once, and the cause was the LCD cable was disconnected inside camera.

I'm still trying to figure out why someone would want the backlight turned off in the first place since you can't see the LCD.
Anyone have enlightenment? |
I don't know Sony's logic for the switch, but my reasons for using it:
1) Save battery power without shutting the camera off. 2) In sunlight, you can actually see the screen without the backlight (not well, but as good as with the backlight). Pete |
