Best Way to Monitor EX Footage in Post

I had this Black Magic Intensity Pro card that was problematic from the first day I bought it. Though out of warranty, the company isn't willing to help me in any way. What else is available to get an HDMI out of my Mac, and I need the ability to use a break out cable to down convert on the fly to SD.

I would look at the Matrox MXO2 Mini or the AJA IO Express. I much more strongly recommend the Matrox MXO2 Mini Max with its accelerated H.264 encoding.

Interesting I have two monitors hooked up to my Mac Pro and one is a corrected monitor. But I also have a Intensity Pro card that I use HDMI to a Sony Bravia 40" HDTV and it works great every time. Great for showing clients their videos. I would check your drivers with the card. I play the footage out of FCP using their 1080i 30p timeline. Also can use any SD setting to play on the HDTV and the image will just border.

The Black Magic was sent back to the company and determined faulty. I'm just a little pissed at them, and myself for not taking care of it sooner under warranty. When it worked, it worked great, was hoping to find something else. Thanks.

These are external boxes. What hooks up to it? I thought I needed a special video card, like the one from Black Magic.

I use the MXO2 box and love it. They include a PCI card that goes into the Mac Pro and connects to the Matrox via a cable. It also comes with an ExpressCard which I can put into my MacBook Pro if I want to monitor or capture via that laptop.
