MXM card reader
 
MXMExpress sells a card reader [EXPRESS34/54 USB 2.0 READER - BLACK - (MXM070)] for only $18- but the shipping costs are $28!

are there any alternatives available that will work just as well?

For instance, this one I found on Amazon.com:

Any USB card reader should work.

Any of those should work fine. They aren't very different. My preference would be for one with a USB cable to minimize the potential for damage at the connection from all the weight.

By the way, from the MXM Express web page about the MXM070:

"This reader does not work with Sony SXS Pro memory cards"

Do you know of any other readers that work with the sony sxs cards...other than sony's?
