EX1 with Sennheiser ew100 g3 wireless lav kit

Hi,

I'm having a hard time figuring out why it seems like I have some kind of AGC that I can't turn off with this set up. MyEX1 is set to external and manual for the channel I am putting my lav receiver to but it always sounds like the background noise floor rises after someone speaks especially in noisy environments. I looked everywhere and I can't find an AGC setting for the lav. I don't think I overlooked anything on the ex1 as the audio is set to external and manual. Any help figuring it out would be great.

TIA

-Mike

Hi Michael,

Try going into your Audio Input menu and adjusting the trim. The default it -41dB. I've got the G3 setup and I can't remember off the top of my head what I run my trim at on my EX3 for it but I remember that I had to adjust it down (i.e. a number closer to 0 dBu).

Michael, it took me a while to get my G3 set-up properly with an understanding to confidently make adjustments in the proper places of the camera and also the G3. I have attached my synthesis which you may find helpful. Cheers!

set the levels right and make sure that you don't trip the ex1's limiter or g3's compander and you won't have a problem with that combination.

Nail on the head! Thanks. The camera is used in a school environment and someone had boosted the internal gain to 60+ o.O
