Required cables to view on TV
 

We often will bring our footage back to the cabin after a day of filmning and sometimes hook it up to the TV to review or watch something in particular.

I bought my EX1R used and I am not sure I have all the supplied cables to pull this off.

Can someone rattle off to me which cable (s) are needed to review this on a TV screen? HD of course.

Of course that question cannot be answered without knowing what kinds of inputs your TV screen has.
Ideally, it has HDMI, and you can simply use an HDMI cable.

I wish there were a retrofit for my EX1 to add HDMI :-(

HDMI or analog component are the only outputs in HD that a TV would have. A pro monitor may/would also have HD-SDI.

The EX1r comes with two cables for hooking up to TVs. One is a composite cable and hooks up via the A/V port on the EX1r and has yellow, red and white RCA plugs at the TV end. The other is a component cable that plugs into the COmponent port on the EX1R right next to the A/V port. The component cable has red, green and blue RCA plugs. Even when the TV supports component video, you will still need the composite cable for the audio (red and white). Component will be HD while composite is SD.

SUGGESTION: Try it at home first.

Thanks for the replies. I tried with the cables I have (1 slot into the camera, 3 into the TV (color coded) and I could not get it to play anything on the screen. Didn't know if I needed the s video cord as well or try a different way.

I have an HDMI cable at home, so I will try that next.

Here I thought switching cameras would make my life easier...NOT!

Check in the menus (can't remember which one) as I think you need to turn on the outputs.

Also need to check your TV to see if it is on the right input to accept external input (Video 1, 2, 3 etc. ).
