Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

I've searched the manual but I haven't found an answer to this simple query (or perhaps it's because of my limited knowledge of the English language): how do I proceed if I only want the good rushes on a SxS card copied to my back-up disk, using Sony's Clip Browser. Now I only find the 'Copy All' command, but I don't want to fill my back-up disks with a bunch of rushes that I will never need again

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

Using Clip Browser just select the clips you want copy and drag them to another folder, too simple.

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

Thanks, Vincent.
You mean drag & drop, using the Clip Browser Explorer window and a regular Finder window? Don't I loose the important CRC-check possibility then? I always read that plainly dragging and dropping XDCAM-EX type files was not recommended... Or is it OK when I choose 'data protection' as priority in the 'preferences' 'MOVE'-pane?

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

You can drag and drop using the two windows in ClipBrowser. Use one window to view the clips on your card and the other window to view your File tree, now drag clips between the two windows. I am not sure if this still activates the CRC check, but I have never lost a clip using this method. The other method which I also use, is to download all the clips and then delete the ones not required. This method may seem time consuming but if you think about it, you will at some stage be reviewing your clips before deciding to download or not, so why not carry out this process in ClipBrowser.

I think this advice applies to people who move files using Explorer rather than ClipBrowser

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

I forgot that Clip Browser offers the possibily to open more explorer windows, so that's clear now. I would like to be sure though that the CRC check is working. I tried the other method (copy to the back-up disk first, then delete what I don't need), but the problem is that, once on the back-up disk, I cannot open the files to see which clip is which in order to delete the not wanted ones.

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

You should be able to view all the EX files on a Backup disk using ClipBrowser, you may have to go down one level on the tree. The folder containing clips will be shown as a Blue folder with a red EX symbol

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

OK, I was trying to open the clips in Finder. Your suggestion solves the problem. Thanks!
One more stupid question: the appearance of my Clip Browser window different, with a dull white background. How did you get the tones of grey in interface windows (that look much better and are easier on the eye) ? Before you ask: I do have the Version 2.06.0.

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

I also use v2.6 (v2.06 in the about window) I just displays as grey by default. Do you have your monitor profiled?

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

I tried all possible profiles for my monitor: the white layout stays as it is. Are you using Clip Browser on a Mac or a PC?

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

Ahh, probably that's the difference then. But I'll ask this question in a separate topic, to be sure. Someone else with a Mac can confirm my suspicion then. Thanks again for the copying tips!

Re: Copying individual clips in Clip Browser?

I know, but that choice is only available when doing a 'copy all'...
