ball head bushing to fit ex1r base plate at DVinfo.net

bought a manfrotto ball head 494 to attach to my monopod so i could tilt my ex and put the monopod against my waist for stability
trouble is the plate i have mounted on the base of the cam has a larger hole 1/4inch, ball head is 3/8. im told i need some type of bushing to either put on top of the ball head or screw into the camera plate, i guess it doesnt matter.
just have to hope its flush on the bottom of the plate.
anyway, someone suggsted the arca swiss bushing?? at 10.00 its more than the others on BH site, but is it the one to go with or do they all do the job as well?
