EX1r ND Filter Color Change

Here's an interesting one for you.

I got an EX1r around a year ago, to replace my original EX1 which got damaged beyond repair.

Now, a month or so in. I noticed that the camera seem to change color hue between ND1 and ND2.. At first it didn't seem to bad, but then I noticed it become even more exaggerated when using a circular polar in front of the lens.

Here are some clips below. The first two have a Polar in front of the lens.

The password for all the videos is: sony

The third video has no Polar, but the color shift is still noticeable.

All shots were with a preset white balance of either 6300 or 5600.

Let me know what you think.. Sony NZ have reset my White Balance preset twice now.. and the camera still does the same thing.

Cheers.

I don't know that the windows in the no-polariser clip is conclusive. I would have expected a shift in the white concrete on the left which I don't see any shift in.

Re: EX1r ND Filter Color Change

Agreed, I need to shoot another test when the sun is out. Its been raining here the past 2 days. I can see color change in the concrete slab in the bottom of frame however.

Whoops I also seem to have not uploaded an HD version of that clip. I'll reupload it tomorrow at work.

I'm going to get hold of another EX1r later this week and do some more tests.

I just can't figure out why a Polar would change the color like that, I used the exact same Polar on my original EX1 with no issues..If it changed the image no matter which ND? sure. I've spoken with my supplier who I bought the Marumi CPL off and they have said there have been no issues with quality of the glass.

Re: EX1r ND Filter Color Change

Joe, there is way too much going on in these shots to have any idea what's happening. If you want coherent response shoot a couple of simple frames where everything remains the same except the filter changes.
