PMW-200 -- what is acceptable level of noise to be heard thru onboard mic?

I recently purchased a PMW-200.

I'll be using this primarily with an external microphone. However, I expect to resort to using the internal microphones for some natural sound.

I'm wondering what is the acceptable level of camera noise that one can expect to hear? I notice that with the camera in fully manual mode, image stabilization off, I hear a slight, intermittent electronic noise from the camera from about 6 inches away and closer. It's loud enough to be picked up in the internal microphones.

The noise only occurs when the camera is moved, but it occurs even at the slightest movement. Manual Focus Assist is turned off, as is (I believe) anything that would cause any motors to be engaged.

This isn't a geared sound. It's more of a slight static sound. When the camera is fully at rest -- such as on a tripod -- there is no sound at all. I thought it might be the sound related lens aperture movement, but the sound occurs even with the lens closed.

I'm curious what this sound might be, and also whether or not I have a faulty unit. Do other users of this camera also hear this sound?

If this is normal behavior, are there settings in the audio menu (AGC spec, limiter) that I can apply to mitigate this sound?

Thanks!
