PMW-350 Stock lens connector problem

1 Attachment(s)
Happy new year everyone.
Have taken the stock Fujinon lens off my PMW-350 for the first time today and notice that the lens connector collar is not exactly round and apparently has a bevel on one side, almost seems damaged. I really can't understand this as it has never been off the camera since new. I now can't connect the lens connector back onto the camera, could anyone confirm that this is either the right or wrong shape !

That's not normal. It looks like the connector took a hit and got bent while off the camera.

The question now is: do you take a small pair of needle nose pliers and verrrrrrry carefully try to put the ring back in round, or send it off to Sony for a repair?

Thanks Bill, After a lot of sweat and swearing i've managed to get it gently re-connected without any butchery! Tested it and all seems OK. I just can't understand how its become flattened as it was only off the camera for literally 30 seconds.....just wondering whether its been damaged whilst being carried in the bag (although would obviously be connected to the body). Anyway panic over for now !

wow...if it was only off that long, then I suspect it was damaged before original installation, and, like you, the assembler was able to get it connected with some effort.

I suppose there is some circumstance under which a small impact at just the right angle to the ring might have bent it as pictured while installed, but that seems improbable.

Glad it's back together!

Glad you got it on. That's the locking ring and I had that happen once as well. I used a small screwdriver and a small pair of pliers (gulp) to sort of make it more round to get it on but it's not something I would do again or recommend. I was sweating and that's not in my contract! ;-)

The metal the locking ring is made of is quite soft and easily damaged if bumped or knocked. I would guess it's been bumped while plugged in to the camera.
