PMW350k Macro Mode

The following is a 37 second demonstration of the macro mode on the kit lens. This feature may well apply equally across all EX series that utilize lenses with electronic rear focusing element.

Narrative:

The PMW350k includes a Fuji kit lens with a flange-back adjustment that enables parfocal behavior within the normal focusing range. In other words zoom in, focus, pull back. It all remains in focus. However, when using the lens with the macro mode enabled and operating within the macro focusing range, the parfocal behavior is defeated. This means the focus shifts as the zoom length is varied. This behavior can be used for creative/artistic effects as demonstrated in the clip. A small change in the zoom length results in a large focus shift. The resulting image goes from very soft to crystal clarity over just an inch or two of zoom pull. The bokeh is creamy, the contrast remains high.
