PMW-200 & the 0.8 W-A Adapter

Last weekend I got an opportunity to use the Sony VCLEX 0877 Wide-Angle Adapter with my PMW-200. Overall, it's a nice lens. The Sony W-A adapter isn't a super 'wide' perspective, and it's a little heavy, the good news is the lens is nice and clear, no noticeable 'coloration' or 'fringing' and I didn't see any 'barrel effect'. First of all, let me admit, I'm an old 'Rangefinder' Photo-Dog and I like the 'wide-angle' perspective. In fact, for my 'normal lens' on both my Leica M3/M6 I used my SUMMILUX-M 21 mm f/1.4 ASPH. This focal-length allowed me to 'see' what I considered 'normally' through the lens.

I have heard good reviews on 'Century W-A Adapters', however, I have no experience with 3rd party suppliers. I also understand, '3rd party' W-A adapters have issues with 'focus through' and they require enabling 'Macro Focus' and 'Auto-focus' features of the PMW-200. I'm sure I could get used to these small annoyances.

Are there wider 'viable'alternatives to the Sony VCLEX 0877?

Thanks,

J.
