Audio channels 3 & 4

Is there any good sources for direction on using audio channels 3&4 with the PMW200? I want to use 3&4 for getting audio from a mixing board and 1&2 with my large diaphragm condenser microphones. I am not sure how to:

1. monitor 3&4 in the headphones
2. adjust the input level on 3&4
3. see the levels on the VU meters.

Follow the instructions, set it all up and try it.

One thing you'll find, using 4 tracks means they're all 12bit audio, which is lower quality than 2 track which is 16bit. But try it.

Cheers.

Re: Audio channels 3 & 4

Unfortunately the PMW-200 only has two inputs so there is no way to get 4 separate audio sources into the camera. Typically most users use channels 3&4 to record the cameras built in microphone as a backup or for ambient sound while using 1&2 with up to 2 external feeds.

The audio is 24 bit 48Khz in the UFD 422 mode, in all the other HD modes it is 16 bit 48Khz and in SD DVCAM you only have 2 channels of 16 bit 48khz audio.

Re: Audio channels 3 & 4

On some older Sony cameras the analog output cable can also be used to input both audio and composite signal. I was hoping to be able to do this on channels 3&4 for the mixing board signal. Apparently this is not possible on the 200. The on-camera mic will be too far from the stage to be used to get the quality of audio I want to get. I can still use it for applause though.
