remote feed from ex1r

im shooting a wedding in November and the church will not hold all the guests, about 600 so far.
brides mother wants me to simulcast it outside in a courtyard for the overflow. would going out sdi be the best way vs hdmi? how long of a run can I do before signal degrades and I would need a booster in between. I would also be running audio out as well.
thx

By All Means SDI

SDI without a doubt and I run 100 foot cables from an EX3 all the time and see no degradation.

Why don't you just buy one and put it in the price? Don't get a cheap one though.

SDI should be able to go close to 100 meters with no problem assuming you have a good cable like 1694a or 1505. Do you have a monitor that will take SDI?

Run it through a small mixer and come out XLR.
You need to make sure beforehand the projector can take SDI.

You can send audio through SDI.

I hope your not considering a projector outside in daylight, not a hope of anyone seeing anything!

Your biggest issue may well be that whatever large screens your going to use, unless your renting professional large screens they will probably be HDMI or DVI in. So, I would run the HDSDI from the camera using the best quality cable I can get. Close to each of the monitors I would use BlackMagic Hi5 to take the HDSDI and spit out HDMI (or DVI) plus RCA analog audio. You can loop the HDSDI through multiple Hi5's if you need to.

Whatever you do, as already suggested don't try to run the RCA unbalanced audio anything longer than 20ft. It will suffer from all kinds of interference. Balanced XLR will be better, but really you may as well take advantage of the digital audio embedded in the HDSDI which is highly immune to interference.
