The SLS and Interval Record modes are all greyed out....

The SLS and Interval Record modes are all greyed out on my PMW-150.
I can only get them to work in the UDF format. They had been all working fine in the FAT format up until today, I was trying out different 1220 modes for the best slo-mo play back and now it wont let me use these other two functions, does anyone know what I might have done.

I reset the camera and I had to change all my settings and PP settings again but its back working now, I'd like to know if this was just a simple setting to fix if it happens again.

Was picture cache turned on or was the camera in any of the 25Mb/s or 1440 modes?

No Alister, it was in FAT mode, 1920 50i and the picture cache was turned off.
If it happened at a wedding I wouldn't have time to mess about and reset the camera, it might be a fault of some kind.

Your problem was probably that you were set to 50i. S&Q and SLS only work in progressive.

You can shoot S&Q in FAT mode provided you use the 1920 or 720 35Mbps progressive modes and not the 1440 25Mbps modes.

Re: The SLS and Interval Record modes are all greyed out....

This is not the case Alister, I always use the SLS in interval mode at 16 for a timelapse in the 50i mode using the FAT format. I know for the S&Q I need a 1440 setting, but when it was all greyed out when I switched to the UDF mode in 50i, the SLS option was not greyed out, only in the FAT mode.
As I said, I saved my settings on the SXS card, done a reset and in both modes both FAT and UDF the SLS option were available, but when I restored my settings from the card, it was only greyed out in the FAT mode. It must have been some wee fault and I havent changed from the 50i setting since as I dont want it to happen at a wedding.

Re: The SLS and Interval Record modes are all greyed out....

OK, I was wrong about SLS, this does work with interlace (although the image will be progressive if the shutter is longer than 1/25th anyway).

One thing that will stop SLS from working is if the shutter is set to auto.

But

S&Q only works in the 1920x1080 progressive modes. The 1440 modes (SP) are essentially HDV and HDV never had S&Q so it won't work. Only progressive HQ modes can be used. You can't use 50i and S&Q.

From the manual:

When the camcorder is in UDF HD Mode or FAT HD Mode and the video format (page 97) is set to one of the following settings, you can set the recording frame rate and playback frame rate to different values.
NTSC Area
HD422 50/1080/29.97P , HD422 50/1080/23.98P , HD422 50/720/59.94P , HD420 HQ/720/59.94P , HD422 50/720/29.97P , HD422 50/720/23.98P HQ 1920/29.97P , HQ 1920/23.98P , HQ 1280/ 59.94P , HQ 1280/29.97P , HQ 1280/23.98P
PAL Area
HD422 50/1080/25P, HD422 50/720/50P, HD420 HQ/720/50P, HD422 50/720/25P HQ 1920/25P, HQ 1280/50P, HQ 1280/25P

These are all progressive HQ modes, so 1920x1080 or 1280x720. FAT or UDF, but no interlace and no 1440 (SP) modes.
