64gb sd cards/sony sxs adapter
ive been using the sony sxs adapter and the sandisk 32gb class 10 extremes with no issues. ive been hesitant to go to the 64gb. but have a big all day job that would probably necessitate using the 64s. anyone use them with no issues on a regular basis??

Depends if you are filming a "one hit wonder" or something where you can re-shoot a take if the camera / storage locks up or something.

Jim,
I use Sandisk 64 gigs all the time with no issues. They are great for long conference days. I use them a lot in music festivals as I don't have time to dump until the end of the day sometimes. I'm using them primarily in Sony EX1R's and lately Sony EX3 |
Re: 64gb sd cards/sony sxs adapter
thanks al.
im shooting an all day recital from 830 to 630, they average 1 1/2 hour each with 30 minute breaks, but the last one is 3 1/2 hours,no breaks |
Re: 64gb sd cards/sony sxs adapter
You don't state what camera and firmware.
EX1/EX1r and EX3 cameras need to be properly updated to accept 64GB media. |
Re: 64gb sd cards/sony sxs adapter
As well, the XDCamEX line spans cards reliably - just remember to use the appropriate Sony application for ingest, not just dragging and dropping.

EX1R version 1.30

Re: 64gb sd cards/sony sxs adapter
You should be fine for both 64GB SDXC cards and XQD cards. There is firmware 1.31, (which I have installed) but the changes are minor.

Re: 64gb sd cards/sony sxs adapter
SDXC are the indication for SD cards above 32GB. SDHC stops at 32GB and 64GB cards are marked as SDXC.
Honestly, I think if you are on firmware 1.30, a XQD card would yield far better reliability compared to a SD card. I've had problems with SanDisk Ultra SDXC cards and my EX1R due to too low write speed. |
