X200: Disable 4 channel audio?

Is there a way to KILL or disable channels 3 and 4 in XAVC on the X200? I have no control over these, and they are mixing in and destroying my sound in FCP. I figured out how to kill them off in FCP, but it's an extra step I would rather not have to deal with if I can dial them down or off in camera.

Thanks!

Paul

Unfortunately not in camera from what I can see as these channels are embedded....

Re: X200: Disable 4 channel audio?

I've found Audio 3 & 4 vary valuable on my PMW200.
In fact, they've saved me on more than one occasion, being able to later mix in camera 'audience' mics to fill in board feed audio that was too thin.
Of course you could always assign them to record Audio 1 & 2 as a backup...
(or perhaps Audio 1 & 2 as a backup but with the low cut 'wind filter' enabled...)
And remember to send a comlaint to Apple about how FCP deals with them! You may find that other NLEs deal with them seamlessly and easily.

If it's FCP7 then Apple likely won't respond.

I know you're returning the camera now, but I was gonna suggest setting them to the MI shoe, then I saw that you can't do that, it's only External and Internal.

Like people are saying, it's nice to have the on-camera stereo as backup, but I know in time pressured ENG situations, it's an extra step. Recording in other formats as a compromise might not work neither, cause all of them support 4 channels.

Re: X200: Disable 4 channel audio?

On my old DVCPRO50 camera, I left 3 and 4 on AUTO level, as a backup to any misadjustments on the main channels!

For some reason, my FCPX takes all channels and mixes them into dual mono fo everything. Very annoying, and I am too lazy to figure out why it does that. :)

I know in Premiere it allows you to modify the audio channels, Have no experience in FCPX. No options when you control click the clip?
