Sony EX3 Reinforcement Plate
 

Hello,

I am interested in purchasing a reinforcement tripod plate for the PMW-EX3. I have searched however a lot of them have now been discontinued and are unavailable. If anyone has one for sale please PM or email me.

Olof and Sharyn Ekbergh of Westside AV have reinforced EX3 tripod plates. Olof who is a regular contributor here has a range of camera kit to suit the EX3s. His outfit makes a specific tripod plate for the EX3. That plate can also be fitted with a VCT14 toe that latches into a standard Sony tripod plate should you wish to use one. If it's as good as the FS700 kit they makes it will be pretty solid and do the job well. I've run his FS700 kit for a couple of years now and been very happy.

Thanks. Are just the reinforcement plates available ? I use a nipros st-7 however I haven't been able to use it much since I am using the original ex3 tripod mount. I can never tighten it to where the camera is solid. Even at its tightest the camera has a lot of movement when using the st-7 and other tripod plates.

From Westside AV yes you can buy just the plate.

Another option, I am using one of these on an EX3 and it's like the rock of Gibralter, very solid. This one I can vouch for whether it will work with the Nipros kit I'm not sure.

Like Christopher, I have the DM plate, bought just over a year ago, and am very pleased with it.

They handled the international transaction very well, and I somehow was not asked to pay import duty.
