clip info display while recording

I'm on a shoot now and want to show the clip number on the HD-SDI diplay while recording.

Any way to do that?

Thanks Alister,

we should request this in the upcoming update.
Never thought of it until they asked for it, they even said "the 5d can do that"

Re: clip info display while recording

I've been pushing for it since 2006 when I got my F350.
Last year they finally added that capability to the F800/700 and it has been great!
No word on whether it will ever be added to the XDCAM EX cameras, but I mention it to Sony every chance I get.

Re: clip info display while recording

I know its not the best but we keep a shot log on set and since the files are numbered sequentially I give the beginning file number. From there the person logging keeps track of every time I call the camera rolling. If we get a break I make sure we are still on the right file number.

If we call out any notes for the log at the end of the shot they write it in on the last entry.

The new firmware (V1.1) supports this. The Clip file name can be part of the onscreen LCD display, and if desired, that overlay can be burned in over outputs, including HD-SDI.

And it works great!! Finally, after years of begging. Yes, I said begging. This is a feature I will use every day.

I haven't played around much with the display, but is there a way to shut it off?

Re: clip info display while recording

Well Sony is listening,

after trying the camera in February for two days, i asked the Sony guys in Dubai to give us more SDI outputs on the dual link output and he forwarded the request to Japan.

And now this is cool and extremely important.

Thanks Sony

Re: clip info display while recording

Think that Sony will ever give this feature to us lowly EX1/3 users?
