Feedback on the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens

Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens
MFR # SELP28135G

Being used in tandem with a Sony FS7. One person's opinion.

"The zoom control is not very good. It lags by almost a second, you can’t feather out of the zoom, and controlling the speed of the zoom by touch is almost impossible. The lens is only f/4 and with the crop factor of the super 35 sensor the zoom range is a bit awkward. It’s not really wide or telephoto on either end. We were willing to put up with the zoom and aperture limitations if it behaved like a traditional broadcast zoom lens, but it doesn’t. It’s this weird hybrid. Not really cine lens, not really a broadcast style lens. Overall the lens quality is great but it kind of feels fake, like all of the controls are digital dials instead of actual mechanical controls. They function slowly and are clunky… I’m not sure what I was really expecting from a $2,500 lens. I guess it was wishful thinking because the camera package does everything else so well and so affordably. : ) In the end, we’d rather deal with the limitations of EF lenses on the run and gun side then have something that is unimpressive on both sides."

Re: Feedback on the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens

At NAB last year, I had the opportunity to play with the Sony 18-200PZ on the FS700 and found that while zooming, the flange focal length was being adjusted on the fly and that focus drifted in and out during a servo zoom. Does the new lens exhibit similar behaviour?
