FS5 - Super slomo & simultaneous recording

A few weeks ago I ended up with a corrupted SDXC card whilst using the FS5. From that point on I've been using simultaneous recording in case it happened again on a more critical project.

Now this is in the manual, but it's worth taking note of if you shoot super slow motion footage and like me have simultaneous recording turned on. The FS5 will only record the slomo footage to card slot b). Whatever is is card slot a) will be missing the slomo clips.

So if you think you've got a backup of your slomo footage, you haven't. Perhaps if your slomo footage is critical to your project, maybe check it several times throughout your shoot and back it up as soon as possible.

Thank you for the heads up, never would have guessed that.

You are slightly wrong about it always recording to slot B... sometimes it records slomo to slot A. I have to be REALLY careful after each shoot to make sure I am copying the correct card.

You may be right Ian. Perhaps it is determined by what card slot is selected in the pervious thumbnail mode. But overall the result is the same, you only get one copy not two.

I thought it might be the speed of the card - it chooses which is faster and records to that. I must investigate this further!

I use indentical cards in both slots, so it probably won't be that. Would be good to find out though otherwise it becomes a lottery for importing from the right card.
