New qxd card problem with FS 7

I bought another 128 gig card today for a shoot. I already have a 128 and 2 64's for my fs7.
This new card wouldn't format, update or allow me to record.
It's the "qd-g128E" Sony card. It came in a box without a card reader, and I notice it has both read and write speed on the card box. It says
R-440 mbs
W-400 mbs
Any body know what the problem is?

Do you have most recent firmware version on camera?

I think I have 3.0
Is there a newer firmware update?

Yes. There have been two firmware upgrades since v3.0. We are up to 4.1 as of the end of January. Not that I think that is the issue. Can you duck into a broadcast supplier and try formatting it on another FS7? Would be interested to hear the end result.

Experienced that problem with one camera on a recent shoot with 3 FS7's. It was a rental camera and it turned out that it was still on an earlier firmware version. Production had bought a couple of brand new cards to have extras for the shoot. The other cameras (with fully updated firmware) had no problems formatting and recording to the brand new cards.

Re: New qxd card problem with FS 7

We're having problems installing firmware 4.1
Question- I currently have 3.0 in the camera. Do I first have to install 4.0 before I can install 4.1?

Also, when I click on "version up" I get the "can not proceed message.
Any ideas?

Update

We installed 3.1, and now the new card works!
Apparently, you can only go from one firmware version to the next.
Tomorrow we'll install 4.0, then 4.1

Re: New qxd card problem with FS 7

I'm having the same problem with FS7 and V2.10 FW recognizing 128 GB cards. Ordered 256 GB G cards and 128 GB G cards. Camera would not format either.

I'll go through the FW update sequence. The 2.1 manual lists 128 GB card.

Re: New qxd card problem with FS 7

I checked the operation of the 128 GB card across various FW revisions.

Recognized = "Media Needs to be Restored. Restore Media(A) Now?"
Failed to Format = "NG : Cannot restore"

V2.00 FW recognized and formatted 64 GB
V2.00 FW recognized and but failed to format 128 GB
V2.10 FW recognized and but failed to format 128 GB
V3.00 FW recognized and but failed to format 128 GB
V3.10 FW recognized and but failed to format 128 GB ---> BUT !!!
But wait. I did the Restore procedure on the same card, and it worked. A second 128 GB card was inserted, and the camera did not ask for it to be Restored.

Re: New qxd card problem with FS 7

Any get a 256GB card to work on FS7 ?

BTW, the working cards are sold as Sony QXD G with part @ on the back side listed as QD-G128E 128GB .
The working 64GB card I purchased with the FS7 is a QD-G64 64GB
