bescor panning and horizontal axis

I'm using the Bescor 101 pan tilt head. And when it pans to the left or right the further it goes the more the horizontal axis gets off kilter.
What am I doing wrong in my setup?

Is the pan axis vertical?

Any pan/tilt head, motorised or not, must be vertically aligned to avoid this. That's why video/film tripods have bubbles.

buy a stick on Level, there is a lot of room for a nice fat one, and a flat space for it.
