ATV Quad Bike Attachments????
 

Hi Everyone, I am trying to attach my Sony Fx1 to a ATV Quad Bikes carrier frame, rather than having to dismount and set up the tripod each time. I film quite a few Horse Treks & Hare Hunts so need to get my shot quickly then on to the next location. So setting up the Tripod each time takes up valuable time.
My Manfrotto tripod has the R2 Quick release plate so would prefer something that would work with it.
There are two options I think might work but thought I would run them by you guys first.
There’s the Steady Mount which has a 3 way head and it looked the best option , but was told I can not attach a Manfrotto base plate to it so I could utilise the RC2 Quick release.
Second option is the Manfrotto Magic Arm , but am not sure if I could level the camera and do pan shots

If the goal is simply to use the vehicle as a platform when parked, you have a number of options. Heving not seen the quad, it's tough to get an idea of what mounting points you have available. But, I will warn you that while the magic arms can get you out of a bind for certain things, they do not carry a lot of load - and to safely mount something you should use a couple....at least.

It may be simple enough that you could ratchet-strap a tripod down to the back, and it would work for your needs. But the one thing you should consider is that the vehicle will almost never be level! So make sure to get some sort of leveling head on whatever mount you create (or your pans will go up/downhill).

If you're sold on the RC2 quick release system, don't forget that you can buy extras (3299) of the whole setup, to make any tripod head compatible with those plates.

If you're just using the vehicle as a mobile platform, then keep it simple. Try finding a tripod system with a ball level (like the Libec-Ls22), and strap it safely to the vehicle where it won't block your sightline. Park, level, and shoot.
