DV Info Net - Steadicam JR problem

Steadicam JR problem

I just took my JR out of storage and was trying to mount my HV20 to it.

In the course of doing so, the upper pivot broke apart. (The one where the stage attaches to the upper arm.

Then I noticed that the LCD pivot is cracked as well.

Has anybody experienced problems like this? It seems like the plastic has become brittle.

Does anyone know if they are still supported? I put a call in to Tiffen but I'm guessing I won't get a return call today. (Hopefully, they won't call at 5 in the morning!)

Yes and no, I was told no parts were available but after I'd taken mine apart trying to glue it (wrong type of plastic to glue) I saw the part numbers on the inside of the two broken pieces (178-0053 and 178-0054 on mine) and found out they did have those parts.

You have to be persistent on the calls and not wait for a call back as you may not get it.
