Flowpod for the HV30?
Is the flowpod a good stabilizer for the HV30? Can anyone give me some advice on this? Thanks...

nope. The HV30 is too light. U need to ballast some weights to use it. I think there is a smaller ver for the Flowpod that would work.

*IM IN THE WRONG SUB-FORUM... SORRY*
can you point me in the right direction? Smaller version? I dont get it... |
I am planning to do the same. HV30 with flowpod or some other system.
I own Xh-A1, too, but wanna use HV30 as steadicam/flowpod use. Any update on this? Smaller version of Flowpod? |
I just purchased Glidecam 2000 and am getting it by Friday.
Couldn't wait for any more reponse... Just researched on my own and came to the decision... |
I think HV30 with nothing extra is too light..
I am struggling... |
You are correct, the "flying" rigs out there are geared for a mid size camera by and large. even with a huge WA lens, mega battery and whatever other weight you can hang on top, it's still going to be on the light side...
For the smaller cams, Merlin, old Steadicam JR, or if you can find one, a VS1 (long out of production, but a very well made steadicam copy for the "micro" cam set). There are a couple other small steady rigs out too, but can't speak to how well they work as I haven't tried them... the Hague comes to mind, and there's a copy of it on eBay. Truth is depending on what you're trying to do, the right monopod may do 90% of the job. I also use a mini-figrig type setup using 3 flash brackets - looks like an old aircraft steering yoke with the cam in the middle. What sort of shots are you trying to achieve? |
I use my HV30 with a Flowpod. The other posters are correct, alone the HV30 is too light. I already had the Flowpod for use with my XH-A1 which killed my arm so I started using my HV30. One thing I used to help is I mounted under the camera an Anton Bauer EgripZ. The camera is a little higher, adds a small amount of weight and the two "arms" add needed rotational mass. Sometimes I also put a light on the HV30 which really fixes the problem needing some counter weight. I wouldn't buy the Flowpod for this use but if you have one, you can make it work.
