Glidecam tripod?

I have a bogen tripod (700RC2) and a glidecam 2000 Pro...It is certainly a pain to re balance and re-mount the camera everytime I take it off the glidecam...So I was wondering if there was any way I could mount the Glidecam headplate to my tripod head? Thanks.

I have the 2000 and you're right about the pain in balancing! I haven't had the time yet, but one day I plan to do pretty much the opposite of what you suggest. I think it will be more practical to get some sort of quick release plate that can mount to a 1/4" tripod bolt and put identical ones on the Glidecam and the tripod.

This was discussed long ago ibut I don't remember the actual model numbers suggested. Perhaps someone else has done this with good results and can give us a link to a specific product at B&H?

I did as Boyd suggested. I had a different mount, you can buy a mount from one of the Bogen resellers. You can find the number of the quick release plate and search for it at B & H. That will usually return the name of the quick release plate.

You might be able to use the Bogen 577- it's a 501 type plate and receiver mechanisim that can be screwed in flat with either the 1/4X20 or 3/8ths. Look at BHphoto andsearch for 'Bogen 577" take a peek at it and see if it'll do the job for you.

We use the Bogen / Manfotto Rapid Connect Adapter Assembly for all of our cameras.

http://www.bogenimaging.us/

Click on "Products", then "Tripods, Heads, Monopod...etc.", then, "Adapter Assemblies".

When you balance your camera on the GlideCam, make two corresponding marks. One on the plate, and one on the dovetail.

If you remove the camera from the rig and then replace it, all you have to do is line up the marks, and off you go!

You can see the base in the first picture at http://home.mindspring.com/~ricks-pi...pedglidecamv8/

We use these as our "Universal" mounting systems...takes all of the guess work out of what to use.
