Home made steadycam with spherical bearing

Hi, I would like to show you my home made steadycam with special bearing. It's made from aluminium and inspirated in Glidecam products. But it doesn't use standard bearing, there is spherical bearing which can move to any direction. This bearing is not so precise as I expected, but it is enought for nice short shots.

This steadycam works perfectly with small camcorders like Canon MVX40, but with Canon XH A1, there is a lot of mass, so some support arm is needed. I will try to build it in the future.

There you can see few shots made with Canon MVX40 and steadycam: http://www.afilm.cz/download/SteadyCamTest.wmv

This piece of aluminium cost 20 Euro and some work to build. Base Glidecam HD-1000 cost 300 Euro.

Great shots for a DIY.
I'd love to make one, unfortunately engineering is not my strong point.
Are you thinking about sharing your process? I'd love to attempt to try it!

I like the lower base. Very stylish

I'll prepare step by step guide ... but it took a little time ... so be patient.

Great, I am interested in reading them when they are completed!

Congratulations for working on a different style of gimbal. This is how "new and improved" gets it's start.
