Cammate steadicam

Hello there,

just wondering if anyone here uses the Cammate steadicam ? http://www.cammate.com/steady_shot.cfm

if so, how does it compare to the Glidecams and Magiqcams ? From their instructional videos, it shows an easy step to balance the setup and comes with a hardcase to store everything.

any comments there ? build quality ?

cheers.

Wesley:

My thoughts on seeing the Cammate at various trade shows is that it is in the ballpark of the Glidecam, Magiqcams etc. I seem to remember the arm being pretty stiff. However I believe that there was an adjustment on the vest that affected the left-right angle of the arm, which is a nice feature (although of the two axes, the fore-aft adjustment is generally more of an issue).

Thanks for replying Charles !!

Big fan of your work, and your valued comments here.

Now I'm deciding between Magiqcam IIa , glidecam V8 and suddenly this came into the conclusion , at a Broadcast Asia convention in Singapore, where I am at.

Budget is a big concern for me and this is the first time I'm investing in such a rig which is a long term plan.

I was told about the magiqcam having dual arms, over the v8, so I'm leaning towards that one.

The thing is there isn't a reseller for the Magiq here in Singas to have a physical feel of the product...

Trademark?

Isn't Steady Shot a Sony trademark?
