General question for Glidecam - Steadicam...
Hello,
i am a Glidecam X10 with Hd4000 user and i am trying to be a good operator. Is this a bok only for Steadicam or it will be help and me for the Glidecam? And according your experience, what is a good practice that i can do? I have read for going the stairs up and down. Is it ok? Thanks |
The book is not just for Steadicam. Steadicam is just the brand name of the product not the art of flying a rig. Although the setting up procedures are based on the steadicam rigs because of the nature of the title the basic principle applies to all rigs with similar features. The book is on all accounts caters on operating, do and dont, tips, lessons on posture, pit falls, framing, and a whole lot more. But if you have not taken a workshop then do so. Nothing beats hands on experience by operators that know what they are talking about. If you can afford it now then buy the book and get the efp video Dvd. You will not be sorry.
For me personally, practicing your posture, fingers placement on the gimbal, controlling the rig and framing are important to me. |
To follow up this idea of workshops for training/learning stabalizer techniques, does anyone have any information about upcoming 2010 Canadian stabalizer workshops? I live 3 hours north of Toronto and would travel that far.
All the best, James Hooey |
There's a 2-Day Flyer/Pilot workshop coming up in Toronto in May. Check here: Steadicam Workshops Schedule for authorized by Tiffen instructed by Peter Abraham
I took one of these workshops quite a bit ago, and it was fantastic. Had a lot of fun, met some great people, and learned a ton. It's well worth the money. |
Thanks for the listing Tom!
