Quick Release & Glidecam - Does it help balancing?

I read on a thread that adding a quick release adapter onto my Glidecam HD2000 will make it easier to balance, is that true?

I just received it today, and as far as I can tell the whole plate that comes off of the glidecam is already essentially a quick release? Or does it have more to do with the sliding plate on manfrotto QRs?

It was my understanding adding a QR is only for the convenience of switching from GC -> tripod and vice versa quickly. If that is the case, I don't really need that functionality and would rather save the money for the time being :S

Any insight would be appreciated :)

Yes it does. I use the QR plate to set the gross trim for the horizon. Then tweak it with the little weights on the bottom.
