Full Colour 3-Dimensional HD video with Merlin!

First of all, it is not April 1st today.

Yes, I have shot a load of stuff yesterday that can be viewed in Full colour 3 dimensions.

To do this I used my Merlin Steadicam to get the correct motion needed for the scenes.
Then after shooting I used "Pulfrich" glasses to view the final result.

Amazing stuff..... Full coloured 3D High Definition TV.

A search for "pulfrich" will get you more details about this amazing but forgotten technique.

Regards,

Douglas

Sounds very cool!

Care to post any of the footage so that those of us with glasses (or a ND filter) can take a look?

Here you are Mikko,

Now I have placed a short sample of my 3D HDV shoot on my site.

You will need a fast connection and also a powerful enough computer to view the clip.

To see the 3D effect you will need to "arrange" a pair of glasses.
I have placed a couple of links on the page to help you do that.
One viewer tried removing the left glass from a pair of sunglasses - and it seemed to work!

Go to:

http://www.gaijin-eyes.com

Then use the pop-out menu to navigate to:

Tips/ Encoding for the web

You will then be on the first page of my little tutorial on getting HDV 1080i clips onto the web.

Click on the BACK arrow to go to the final page of the tutorial. There you can find the thumbnail link to the 3D clip.

Good luck,

Douglas

Very cool, thankyou!

I watched it using a peice of Rosco N.6 (-2stop) ND filter [3403] from the Rosco Cinegel swatchbook over my right eye.

I'm very impressed with the effect. Cool!

Note to the non-tech-heads out there without a ND filter handy: You can squint your right eye to allow in less light and get an idea of the effect.
