Indicam Pilot and the XL2

Videography has been a hobby of mine for a couple of years and now I'm thinking about starting a side-business. I've invested in an XL2 and I want to pick up a stabilizer rig. My budget is about $2000 and I was going to go with the Glidecam Smooth Shooter, but reading up on the Indicam, I'm thinking about going that route. I'd really like to go with a dual-arm setup, even if its a lighter rig. I saw Terry flying an XL2 with the Pilot, but I'm wondering if anybody else has gotten any experience with the XL2 and the Indicam Pilot? If the Pilot can support up to 14lbs and the XL2 is right around 10lbs, that means the sled + balancing weights can be no more than 4lbs? I don't have any experience, but it seems to me 4lbs isn't much headroom. Should I give Indicam a shot or still with the Smooth Shooter? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Todd

I'm not sure about the XL2 but it can handle the FX1. I got the indicam 2 mths ago. Had only tried it 3 times so far.. hee still trying to make some time for it but I have ni regrets about the rig.

Gentlemen,

We have been without internet and business phone access for a week now and just had our connection fixed.

I was good to be able to talk with you Todd via the cell phone. I hope I answered any questions you had.

I'm going to simulate an 10 pound camera with counter weights and see how our single upgraded arm fares. I know our system can hold the weight but with which arm upgrade...?

I'll let you know via this forum asap-probably tomorrow (Friday).

Smooth shooting!

I guess I'll post this even though I think I answered this question in a private email.

The arm with the single upgrade will fly the sled with a 10 pound weight but it likes 9 pounds better. You could always open the camera and take out some of the stuff you don't need to lighten it up a bit...haha.
