What's next for Canon

Since everyone is wondering what Canon has cooked up for the next video camera, I'm wondering what and when their replacement for the 10d will be.
That 6.3 megapixel chip came out in the D60, right? It must be getting a little old. Are they likely to introduce a replacement for it and the 10D this spring?
Sony is coming out with an 8 megapixel Cyber-shot BTW.

I keep up with camera stuff at http://www.nikonians.org - they often mention cams from other makers, like Canon. I haven't heard anything about new Canons on the horizon.

Canon is rumored to be replacing the 1D. It is rumored to be a 6 to 8 megapixel camera oriented towards photojournalists. Read this to mean large fast buffers with loads of memory. It should have updated AF, maybe the 45 point AF from the 1Ds and EOS 3. The same rugged construction of its predecessor with improved weather sealing. Minor ergonomic improvements including improved LCD screen. This is just speculation and has no basis in what Canon may or may not be planning for a new camera.

The 10D will see slight improvements. Expect minor resolution improvements. The Sony chip is a CCD and Canon is committed to CMOS technology and resultant chips they produce. The major advantage, at this time, is lower noise at higher ISO's than competing CCD's. Nikon appears to have closed the gap with the D2, so now it's Canon's turn to play one upmanship.

8mp on a consumer size chip is going to have some noise issues. I remember seeing a couple sample shots on some sony site, these were at ISO 200 and 400 and you could see the noise.
