Underwater Camera or Housing

Hi.

Anyone know of a good water proof still camrea that could be used for surfing photos?

A housing is also an option.

You've got cameras from Sea & Sea, Sealife and Nikonos. Knoica-Minolta, Ikelite and a few other make cameras also. I prefer Nikonos and I've owned several over the years. You can see them at B & H Photo.

Aaron it all depends on how serious you are, just shooting your mates at your local break or getting more serious, pro surfers big waves.

If your out to shoot your mates then a Nikonos is a good place to start as it's rugged, easy to use and very basic. If you want something a little more advanced then a second-hand EOS 620 with a 20mm and a housing is a popular and affordable entry point.

For pro shooting you will want somthing along the lines of an EOS1V/1n/3/1D or the Nikon equivilants. If you go with a digital then a clear housing is the go. The advantages of a pro set-up is that there are a bunch of accessories available like pistol grips, extension poles and the like that help you get closer without getting in the way.

Lens wise you'll want lenses from 80mm down to 15mm fisheye and the ports to match.
