Need To Make Some Money Using My Sony VX2000
 

I know this isn't a job-search board, but I have a Sony VX2000 and I need to start using it to make some money. I'm brand new to the LA area (Whittier) and there have to be tons of opportunities, I just have no idea where to look. I've shot weddings and stuff like that with it when I lived in Texas, and I'm hoping to get something going here. I don't have any other equipment so all I have to offer is my own shooting skills. I'd love to somehow do something involving music. Any ideas?

Jon - That's a tall order especially in LA. I might suggest you try Craigslist.com in the Video Job or etc jobs area. There always seems to be stuff there. Good luck.

ok your probably not going to get this but...

what do you like doing?

find something you like that translates to video work, if you don't like what you are doing your probably not going to do a great job at it.

did you like doing weddings?

if you truly like doing it, and you don't suck :) you could probably hone your skills and get great at it.

but video is hard to make money at, you are probably going to need a whole bunch more equipment.

i have wondered lately if there might be a market for modestly priced "personalized mini documentaries"

you find someone who had a weird hobby who really wants to make a vanity documentary and you do it for them.

i have heard that in the old days of publishing (pre-desktop) there were such things as vanity publishers who would publish just about anything and put it in a nice leather binding for a price.

there were people i guess who were willing to shell out some $$$ to get their name on a book to give to friends.

wouldn't be all that hard to do that now with dvd's
