public liability insurance

Hi,

My local counicl has asked me to provide some public liability insurance before i go out on public land to film a few odds and ends.

Do I need basic insurance covering me, or do i need to add 'employees' onto the contract??? The actors will be covered by expenses etc, but i dont know if i need to include them in the insurance as I will only use them for one day?

If anyone could clarify this, that would be great.

thanks
Andrew

I think what you need is "liability" insurance, protecting you from any lawsuit if something was to go wrong & somebody sue you. By default, that should cover most mistakes from your employees since you're the one in charge, but also cover you if they were to sue you for injury or neglect for some reason. It sounds like your thinking it's health/medical insurance coverage or something. It's likely not. Check with them & with an insurance carrier as well.

I get my liability insurance through Fractured Atlas, and I consider it money very well-spent…
