What is a broadcaster?

::RANT::

Texas Association of Broadcasters convention is a yearly convention in Austin, TX. This year it is Thursday, August 7. The crowd that attends is aging. Teenagers today may never work in "broadcasting". Seems as though NAB, the National Association of Broadcasters, moved to talking about filmmaking and content everywhere a long long time ago. Colleges are ditching college radio stations because it is "not a profitable career". Telling someone they are going to be a "filmmaker" is like telling a grade school athlete they will go into the NFL or NBA. We don't need more filmmakers. We need more nurses and engineers. We need more people in the audio visual industries. I am convinced that someone could build a career around picking four or five brands at the Texas Association of Broadcasters Convention, learn them backwards and forwards, and work in the audio visual industry. You need to be independently wealthy to start off as a television reporter. "You must be famous... you are on TV..."
