Blog vs website vs Smugmug

So I started with my droptodesign.com website, that went through numerous revisions, then I moved my portfolio to my droptodesign.smugmug.com, but after learning the limitations on video support, I've gone back to my neglected blog at blog.droptodesign.com. So I'm hacking away at my blog at blog.droptodesign.com and will be looking for some video strategies since Vimeo has gone off its rocker.

The droptodesign.com link is just a redirect now. I'm not sure what will happen in the future with all this vimeo drama, but I'm thinking my wordpress blog may be the way I go.

With smugmug it's nice that people can order photos right from the gallery, but I'm not seeing many clients order prints, most just want their disk. I think that trend is here to stay.

Re: Blog vs website vs Smugmug

Greetings from NOVA, Steven. I'm happy with my SmugMug sites, the first of which has lots of video:

Arts Laureate - Audio and Video

Christian Amonson, recording engineer

I used to have a custom-built website, but eventually realized I just wanted to show off some great pictures and videos with simple/slick format.

Re: Blog vs website vs Smugmug

Yeah, I'll probably keep smugmug for a while. I actually enjoy the blogging part though. Smugmug doesn't incorporate blogging, so I'll keep the blog where it is. Smugmug hasn't updated anything video related in years, so it'll be important to keep an eye out for that. Since Vimeo is going through a midlife crisis, I'll have to keep my options open.
