Re: Magic Bullet vs. Apple Color
Doing research - already have Apple Color (but don't know how to use it) and was looking at some of the stuff in Magic Bullet Looks.
What I'd like to know is: Is Apple Color JUST color grading, or can it do effects such as that selective Edge Softness stuff that is sort of a pseudo-depth of field? |
Color is pretty deep. Meaning that there's way more control. You can do all sorts of amazing things. Magic Bullet has some nice looks and is easy to use. With the level of control in Color also comes a steeper learning curve. Not insurmountable by and stretch - just a little longer to learn.

Brian, Magic Bullet also makes a program separate from Looks called Colorista which is more the direct competitor to Apple Color. Looks is amazing at creating special effects like DOF, gradients, lens diffusion and also has a nice aray of abilities in color editing, but Colorista takes it to another level with just color editing. They may have a trial version on the Red Giant website, as they do for Looks and much of their other software.
Good luck, Jeff |
