filters for black and white

Hey guys, I just wanted to know, I've been reading a lot about filters for film-look. What about for a black/white film noir look...
What filters would enahance my images. Or can use the ones refered to already on the site. Thanks again
Neil

In B&W photography, using a yellow or an orange filter will add more contrast.

Thanks Frank. SHould I bother with ND, Polarizing or Black Promist 1/2?

Find a good B&W photography book at the book store -- one that includes a section on creative filter effects and shows practical examples.
