Compact quality videocam jib?

Can anyone recommend a good compact really lightweight videocam jib for a small 3-5 lb 3CCD videocam?

It would need to be airline checked baggage friendly.

I also noticed some have LANC controllers some don't, some look really cheesy, other high quality, and how in the world do you see what is being shot if you don't have a remote monitor?

Try the Pro_Am 200 Turn-key ProAm® Camera Crane Package*|*Camera Cranes / Jibs*|*Bargain-Camera.com

In its carrying case it can be airline checked.

And without a monitor on the boom, you are more or less guessing on what you are getting. A jib or boom is just one tool. The manufacturer may offer to sell you a LANC or a monitor, but they are not considered part of a boom... bedsies many of us already own a brand of their own choosing. Bargain camera offers them in a package... but be aware that monitors are also an entire subject unto themselves.... some LCD models are worthless IMHO...

The system looks decent, but how is their LCD monitor?

Chris Swanberg March 23rd, 2009 09:17 PM

I really cannot speak to theirs... but suffice it to say that many (most?) an LCD monitor which might workgreat indoors is quickly washed out and worthless outdoors.... EVEN with a sunscreen.

I think it really helps to have seen an LCD in the flesh outdoors in sunlight. You start to understand why the good monitors are a little pricier.
