24p i After Effects or Premiere?
 

Curious to know which is better. 24p in AE or P6,5? I've been trying to find the button for this in AE but can't seem to find it. What procedures do you go through to get a good film look using 24p in AE?
I've tried doing a search but didn't find what I was looking for. Also, another question. Anyone using the XM2, spells PAL and what film look precedures are you using with the in camera settings? I also heard that you don't have to be so concerned about fast pans when using frame mode in PAL. Any tips, will be helpful. Thanks.

AE should be able to handle 24p footage. Although I'm not sure
it can handle DV 24p (probably not). I'm doing my film look in
Vegas (see the Training Day thread).

I'm really not sure what your question is. Are you asking if AE can handle 24p footage? Absolutely. Can AE handle footage with a 3:2 pulldown? You bet! Can AE either introduce or remove 3:2 pulldown from sources - easily. If you import a footage file into After Effects, highlight that footage in the Project window. Then go to File>Interpret Footage>Main. You will there see how AE has interpreted that file. With almost every major format, AE will guess correctly about the format, frame rate, field interpolation, film pulldown, alpha channel, etc. You can also change these parameters so that AE will consider a clip in one format to be one in another, and display it accordingly. Also, when it comes time to render a composition, you have a wide range of choices in how AE will render the file, including control over all the aforementioned parameters. For a full explanation of these and other functions, I highly recommend Trish & Chris Meyer's book "Creating Motion Graphics in After Effects". It's the beginner's to advanced bible on AE, and donates the entire last section of the book, 9 chapters, and over 70 pages to similar topics entitled "Format Issues and Rendering".

Thanks guys. Scott, you answered my question already. I just wanted to know if AE can handle render out a dv clip to 24fps?
I take it premiere doesn't render out dv to 24fps. Mmmm, never bothered to check. I'll have to do that. Thanks anyway.
