American Pimp

Hi,

I just saw the pimp documentary "American Pimp" 1999 on DVD. It wasn't particularly entertaining, but the video->film look processing was in my face. Have anyone seen better imitations of grungy film using digital post editing ? I tried some of the Vegas plugins, but ended up with American Pimp-looking video.
The 320x240, 15 fps MJPEG movie mode of my digital camera seems to do a better job, but the audio is tinny and atrocious.

I haven't seen that DVD, but the Sony TRV-900 has a 15 FPS progressive mode, and it is fairly "over the top".

i think the best "grungy" film look pluggin has to be cinelook film-damage by Digieffects. you have so many options to make your video look as grungy as you want it to be. it has dust particles, scratches, dirt, blur, shakes... and more with parameters to change size, amount, and color.
