Sennheiser G2 wireless boom mic?

Hi

I bought a microphone 'boom' stand which can suspend a mic over my subject's head, for a short film with only him as the actor and me doing everything technical and directing.

I had an idea that I could attach my G2 wireless plugin to the bottom of a good quality 'movie dialogue' microphone and then use that as my 'boom' mic?

Would anyone have any suggestions about what microphone would give a good beefy 'movie dialogue' sound for an independent production?

It would need to have the XLR-type connection so it can be attached to the Sennheiser G2 plugin.

All ideas welcome!

If you aren't going to be moving around a lot, and with such a small crew I don't see how you could, then wireless isn't required or necessary. You will get better audio from a wired connection. For a good all-around mic, look at the Røde NTG-1 or -2. The Oktava MK012 is another good one with interchangeable capsules. I don't know what the industry standard is right now (Schoeps maybe?) but both of the ones I mentioned are far below this in price.

Thanks Edward - much appreciated. I'll check them out. Haven't heard of Schoeps before so will look at them also.

Thanks again,
