A Good Example

Jay Gladwell posted a notice about an iFilm short called "Sweet" at the thread below. It's a good example of how all of the key elements have been assembled to achieve the "film look"

I'd like to follow up with another example, this one using the P+S Technik Mini35 adapter. It's a trailer for a German film, so it is "auf Deutsch," not English, but you don't need to understand the dialog -- just check out the look.

Location is www.dvinfo.net/media/mini35/Familienrevier.mpg

It is a 40 megabyte download. Should load fine in a Quicktime player. Let me know here if you have any problems downloading or playing it.

Chris that truely is impressive, really pulls itself very far away from a typical camcorder look.

But what is with that DISGUSTING grain, it is so overdone, i really hope that is the result of bad encoding and not camera or editor issues.

This and "Sweet"...two of the best DV films I've ever seen...and on the same day.

Good day.

It's a relly nice short! Does anybody know which camera was used?

Thanks

The mini 35 only fits a few cameras, so I'm going to guess the XL1 (or PAL version since it orginated in Germany). I know P + S Technik was working on versions to fit a few Sony models. I don't know if they are on the market or not.

Doesn't that one look a Clint Eastwoodish??

Impressive done in DV. I did think the ending looked a little like one of the Clint Eastwood's 'Dirty Harry' series except this time with chicken instead of coffee...
