35mm EOS adapter vs. GG differences?
 

I'm a newbie so the answer to this may be obvious to a lot of people:

What does a GG creation like Nicholas Bartleet has made, or the ones from redrockmicro have over a simple adapter the Canon makes, or that you can find online? What does the rotating ground glass do to the look?

The homemade 35mm adaptors discussed on this board are much more than simply adaptors to physicaly connect 35mm lenses to video cameras. Physically attaching it alone does nothing to achieve the shallow depth of field these people are after.

The ground glass is the centerpoint in a two-stage process. The 35mm lens focuses its image on the ground glass, and the camera records the image from the ground glass. This is equivilant to video taping an image off a movie theater screen, only much smaller.

the canon adapter magnifies the lenses focul length by 7x i believe... so if you're doing nature photography, go for it. the 35mm adapters give you a shallow depth of field like you see in movies.
