very informative thread : )

in my limited experience i can relate. i had the privilege of attending a large-scale high-speed shoot. i think it was between 8 to 10 setups in a day. i'm always amazed at the time-bending qualities of the medium in so many ways.

the band (Social Distortion) playing gangsters robbing a bank.
saw them live in '93. amazing show.

Re: Question for DPs: Setups per Day?

This is a question that's impossible to answer: it depends on exteriors vs. interiors, number of shots, amount and complexity of dialogue, etc.

Generally, a good rule of thumb is to average 3 script pages per day: a 90 minute feature requires 30 shoot days.

But then there are so many variables... a film like My Dinner With Andre would go much faster than Avatar...
