Correct Settings On VX2100 For Film Look?
 

hello.
what would be the correct and most suitable settings for shooting a neutral video on vx2100 - exposure, shutter speed, white balance, etc - if i aim to give the footage a film look in post?

From all the research I have been doing lately I would say this...

Shutter = 1/60th (60i)

Aperature = Wide open, no gain, ND1 or ND2 or none depending on amount of light

White balance = normal for the scene

If you have a 35mm adapter, that is your best bet. If not, backyard DOF.

Then use something like DVFilm Maker, Magic Bullet, or VirtualDub to convert the footage to 24p, then edit, then port back out to whatever format you want.

Use slow pans, and try to get that DOF you see in movies. Play with the sharpness, maybe turn it down one or two.

I have this same camera and was testing yesterday. Those settings and DVFilm Maker made my footage look as close as it gets for what I have to work with. Since you are in UK, I assume PAL, you may have to slightly modify those mentioned settings.
